1. About these terms
These terms apply when you use opalcircle.com, the Journey Tool, the member portal and the Opal Circle community (together, "Opal Circle"). Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy and, if you become a member, our Community Guidelines.
Opal Circle is operated by Opal Circle Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17260986), with its registered office at Suite F, Bishops Walk House, 19-23 High Street, Pinner HA5 5PJ. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Opal Circle Ltd, and "you" means anyone using Opal Circle.
By using Opal Circle, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
2. Who can use Opal Circle
Anyone can visit our website and use the Journey Tool.
Membership of the Opal Circle community is for women navigating divorce or bereavement. You can join by applying through our website and then having a personal conversation with a member of our team. We review every application individually and may decline one at our discretion. We do not have to give a reason.
We currently accept members based in the United Kingdom and the United States. If you live somewhere else, you can apply and we will add you to our waitlist.
You must be 18 or over to apply for membership or create an account.
3. Your account and Sign in with Google
You may create an account using your email address or Sign in with Google. If you use Sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We use them only to create and manage your account, as described in our Privacy Policy. We never post anything on your behalf or access anything else in your Google account.
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for keeping the information in your account accurate. Please tell us at hello@opalcircle.com if you think someone else has accessed your account.
4. Membership is free
Membership of Opal Circle is free. We do not charge members for the community, the Journey Tool, our content or our workshops.
5. Community conduct and confidentiality
The Opal Circle community works because members can speak openly. When you join, you agree to follow our Community Guidelines, which form part of these terms.
In particular, you agree:
- not to share anything another member has said, or any information that could identify her, outside the community;
- not to screenshot, record or copy community discussions or workshops;
- to treat other members with respect and discretion;
- not to use the community to promote services, solicit business or recruit members for other purposes.
We may remove content that breaks these terms or our Community Guidelines.
6. The Journey Tool and our content: general information, not advice
Opal Circle is a community and a guide. It is not a law firm, a financial adviser, a tax adviser or a medical provider, and nothing on Opal Circle is advice specific to your situation. The Journey Tool, our articles, guides, workshops and other content give general information to help you understand your circumstances and have the right conversations with qualified professionals. Anything that affects your money, your legal position, your tax or your health should be confirmed with a professional who knows your full circumstances.
You can use the Journey Tool anonymously. You only need to give your email address if you choose to save your result or request your full summary.
7. The provider directory and introductions
Our provider directory lists independent professionals we have assessed. Members can ask us to arrange an introduction, and our team arranges every introduction personally.
Providers are not employed by Opal Circle and do not act on our behalf. If you choose to work with a provider, your agreement is between you and that provider, and the provider is responsible for the services they deliver. Our assessment is careful but it does not guarantee any particular outcome, and you should make your own decision about whether a provider is right for you.
Some providers pay us a listing fee or, where permitted, a referral fee. These fees do not affect what you pay the provider. We tell you about any fee arrangement when we make an introduction.
8. Workshops and events
Our workshops are free, live and not recorded. They are for members only, and the confidentiality commitments in section 5 apply to them. Events may be changed or cancelled.
9. Intellectual property
The content, design, branding and materials on Opal Circle belong to us or our licensors. You may use them for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, republish or distribute them without our written permission.
You keep ownership of anything you post in the community. By posting, you give us permission to display it within Opal Circle so that other members can see it. We will not publish it outside the community unless you ask us to.
10. Third-party platforms
Our community runs on Circle, and you can sign in using Google. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, which also apply when you use them. We are not responsible for services we do not control.
11. Suspending or ending membership
You can leave Opal Circle at any time by contacting us at hello@opalcircle.com. Our Privacy Policy explains what happens to your information when you leave.
We may suspend or end your membership if you break these terms or our Community Guidelines, or if we reasonably believe your continued membership puts other members at risk. Where appropriate, we will tell you why.
12. Our liability
We work hard to keep Opal Circle accurate and available, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
We are not responsible for:
- decisions you make based on general information on Opal Circle;
- the services, advice or conduct of any provider;
- what other members post or say.
Our total liability to you in connection with Opal Circle is limited to £100.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
13. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use your personal information, including information from your application and from Sign in with Google.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a significant change, we will tell members by email or in the community. The date at the top shows when the terms were last updated.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK or outside the UK, you keep any protections that the law where you live gives you and that cannot be excluded, and you may be able to bring proceedings in your local courts.
16. Contact
If you have any questions about these terms, please contact us at hello@opalcircle.com.
